At last night's monthly Board of Educaton meeting, the Board voted to approve policy GAH. The policy governs social media use by district employees and was presented in June.

To summarize, the District recognizes the use of social media for communication and e-learning. The policy pertains to all social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Their usage is encouraged in a classroom or school office setting as long as they don't detract from employee effectiveness or other job duties.

All social media activities, even while not working, must not violate Board policies or interfere with employees or co-worker's job performance. To be specific, rules that govern employee behavior apply to social media use. You can read the entire policy by going to

In other matters. Nutrition Director Kelli Green recently sent in an application to Bright from the Start, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, to provide an evening meal to participants in the 21st Century After School Program. The application was approved..

The Board also approved Greg Gentry as a community coach for both the middle and high school cheerleading programs. According to the minutes.he'll receive no compensation from the district. Gentry will come to Cochran to teach gymnastics to both squads as opposed to athletes traveling to Warner Robins.
