Bailey Odom tosses to Ashlyn Williams at first to double off a Lady Canes player trying to get back to the bag.

Preseason play for the Lady Royals continued Monday with a pair of scrimmage games in Fitzgerald against the Lady Canes. Bailey Odom pitched both due to concerns that a foot injury Riley Edge suffered during the summer wasn't healing properly.

Emily Sanders sets to throw from third base.

The first game was a full seven innings. BCHS had a 3-0 lead after two innings but would strand at least one runner in three of the next four. Fitzgerald got within 3-2 but Bleckley held on for the win.

Game two was a five-inning affair. BC went up 3-1 after two and a half only to see the Lady Canes tie the score with single runs in the third and fourth. A pair of Fitzgerald errors in the fifth led to two Bleckley runs. That would be enough as the Lady Royals won 5-3.

Aliyah Whitehead dives into second base.

Abbey Sims went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Jordan Williams was 2 for 3. Aliyah Whitehead was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI. Landa Dominy went 1 for 2 with a triple. Preseason play wraps up tomorrow with a home scrimmage against Fullington Academy at 5 pm.
