After last week's disappointing loss against Cinch County, this was the game fans hoped to see. Bleckley players flying to the ball and with the ball both offensively and defensively. It also didn't hurt that the game was against longtime rival Hawkinsville.

With less than a minute gone, Nykeem Farrow broke a 70-yard touchdown run. The point after missed but BC led 6-0. Farrow would score again, dashing 57 yards for another score with 6:55 left. Andrew Butler caught the two-point conversion and the Royals led 14-0.

Early in the second, BC went for it on fourth and goal from the eight. Zach Lassiter connected with Bryce Bailey as the lead grew to 21-0. Fourth down magic happened with 4:32 left in the half when Torenio Davis outjumped a Hawkinsville player for a touchdown on fourth and 10 from the Royal 24. Farrow ran in a two-point conversion to make it 29-0.

BC appeared poised to score again before the half after an interception put them on the Hawkinsville 37. The drive would stall though on a Red Devil interception.

In the third though, the Royals would capitalize on another Hawkinsville turnover. Reid Harley recovered a fumble on the Red Devil 28. Farrow, who completed a fourth down conversion to keep the drive alive, scored from two yards out with 9:09 left.

The only time Bleckley would not capitalize came later in the quarter after a return by Davis to the Hawkinsville 30. Bleckley's drive stalled at the 10, a 37-yard field goal fell short. Though not scoring again, the defense forced two more turnovers, a fumble and interception, as BCHS won 36-0.

Farrow ran for a career best 218 yards on 23 carries. Bailey caught six passes for 50 yards. Jack Fernandez caught three passes for 47 yards. Davis' touchdown catch was part of a three reception, 41-yard night. Zach Lassiter completed 18 of 25 passes for 184 yards. Defensively, Justin Rozier led the way, three solo tackles with assists on seven others.

Against Clinch County last week, the Royals had four turnovers on eight second half offensive plays. Head Coach Von Lassiter believed that the improvement Friday night was a key to success. "We were able to not turn the ball over. We were able to protect really well. Our guys played really well up front." Lassiter also pointed to the running game which amassed 243 total yards, noting it helped them keep the chains moving without having to pass as often.

Defensively, Lassiter said their ability to force Hawkinsville into third down situations was important. While he did say they needed to cut down on penalites, he said the defense played "lights out" and called them "fun to watch."
Lassiter said he was thankful to have players who flew to the ball. He believes "the faster you play, the better off you'll be," be it offense or defense. "It's a lot of fun to play fast on both sides of the ball, and our guys run around really well."
BCHS plays at Treutlen High School September 1. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
