Basketball teams sweep home opener.

Coming off a pair of tough games in Swainsboro Monday, BCMS was in front of the home fans and cheerleaders for games against Wilcox County. Teams scrimmaged the Lady Patriots and Patriots last Wednesday in Rochelle. With soccer done, Jalexia Taylor was back for the Lady Barons.

Kiara Gilbert had six straight points in the second quarter helping push what was a four-point lead after one quarter to 18-6 at halftime. Following a missed free throw at the end of the third quarter, the ball was tipped in as time expired, pushing the to 15. BC went on to win 33-24.

Jhamir Marshall had six first quarter points as the Barons led 10-6. A cold shooting second with only one made basket helped Wilcox tie the score at 13. The Patriots cut what was a seven-point third quarter deficit to two in the fourth with 2:53 left.

Tavares Mays layup spurred what was an 11-0 run, sealing Bleckley’s 36-23 win. Monday’s game at Wilkinson County will be played at the high school, 11471 GA 57 in McIntyre.
