It was little wonder head coach Shelly Cranford said they had many people to recognize during Thursday’s middle and high school cross country awards ceremony. Both programs once again had great seasons.

As Runnin' Royals alumni, Jahnaria Brown and Hadden Powell received hooded sweatshirts.

The middle school girls won their 18th straight region title, the boys finished runner up. The girls were third at middle school state, the boys fourth.

Emily Youngblood received a plaque for placing third at middle school state.

For high school, the girls won their 15th straight region title, the boys their 12th. The girls repeated as AA state champions, the boys finished third at state. It was their sixth straight year finishing in the top three. Both individual state champions came from BCHS, Austin Perez and Garrett Rogers.

Items such as certificates, T-Shirts, patches for high school jackets, and picture plaques, were handed out en masse. As per usual, special recognition was given to those who finished in the top 20 at the middle school region meet and those who made the high school all region teams. Members of both the middle and high school all state teams were also recognized, runners who placed in the top ten.

The final awards before specific recognition of on the course achievements were the “Super Seven” awards going to high school runners who had been a part of cross country throughout their entire middle and high school careers. Those went to Jahnaria Brown and Hadden Powell.
