Good day overall on the mat.

It was a pair of returns for BCHS Saturday. They returned to the mat after two weeks off and competed at Swainsboro High School’s Rumble in the Jungle for the first time since 2015. The Royals were one of 12 teams in the AA division including two they’ll see at region next week.

A good contingent made the trek down I-16 to cheer them on. Bleckley had an overall solid day. Good energy, good jumps, good motions. Their execution was off, a fall during the transition to the pyramid. But BC recovered and finished strong.

When results came, something happened that hadn’t taken place all season. The Royals were not called as the final team. BC finished second. The team that won also had a fall. One good thing, Bleckley beat the other region teams.

The squad with coaches Heather Davis and Kayla Warren.

They’ll look to do it again November 3. Region 3-AA competition will be at West Laurens High School.
