Jalexia Taylor had a second straight double figure scoring game.

Coming off a pair of close games in Dublin, BCHS was home Friday night to take on Washington County. It wasn’t a good return as both teams lost.

Alyssa Fortune squares up to shoot.

The Lady Royals were within 31-22 at halftime and trailed just 40-30 going to the fourth. Following a Markayla Jenkins basket, the Lady Hawks ran off nine straight. BC never recovered in losing 59-38.

Up 13 in the second quarter, Washington County cut the lead to five before Amarion Blackshear’s fourth three-pointer of the half. Waco came out in the third and erased what was a 37-31 halftime lead, then pushed ahead by as many as 14 when Deandre Pitts went out with foul trouble.

Shontavian Manuel gets a rebound.

BC was down 60-52 going to the fourth but tried to rally. Shontavian Manuel’s basket in the final minute drew the Royals within one. Trailing by three with less than two seconds left, a potential game-tying three just popped out as the Royals lost 78-75. They were 6 of 11 from the free throw line.

Nykeem Farrow has a breakaway layup.

Manuel had 19 points. Nykeem Farrow led with 25 points. Blackshear had 12 points on four three-point shots. Pitts scored 11 points. BCHS plays at East Laurens January 22. Varsity tip time is 6 pm.
