Middle Georgia State University is adding another degree to its lineup. Bachelor of Science in Sport Management will be offered starting fall 2019. It was approved by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia at their February 12 meeting.

Last month, MGA began offering the Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science to prepare graduates to work in various fields broadly related to helping patients recover from or adapt to disabilities.

The degree will be housed in the School of Business and offered on both the Cochran and Macon campuses. A university press release says sports management programs prepare individuals to apply management principles to the organization, administration, or management of athletic programs and teams, sport recreation services, and related sectors.

The degree program is based on a liberal arts and general business curriculum and has a 120 credit hour requirement. That includes a 42-hour core curriculum, 18 hours of discipline-specific coursework, 18 hours of general business coursework, 21 hours of sports management coursework, as well as 21 hours of approved electives. There’s also an embedded minor in business and at least three semester hours of internship experience.

For more information on the sport management program, contact Dr. Anthony Narsing, (478)-471-2806, anthony.narshing@mga.edu
