Though BCHS clinched region last week, they still had something to play for Thursday night versus Southwest. It was Senior Night, always a reason to win. Plus, a victory would clinch the first 10-0 season since 1978.

Christian Newbern and Quintavis "Scooter" Slappy are in on the tackle.

The Royals took the opening kickoff and drove 80 yards, capped by Jahvon Butler’s seven-yard touchdown run. BC led 7-0 with 8:27 left. The Patriots answered with just eight seconds left on a 14-yard quarterback keeper.

A two=point conversion attempt failed but it was 7-6. In the second, TJ Mays broke free and went 30 yards to the endzone. The point after missed but it was 13-6. Both teams threatened late in the half with Southwest getting to the BC 23 and the Royals reaching the Patriot 17.

Neither team scored. After Southwest stopped BC on fourth down, an on-field incident resulted in two BC players being ejected. Both will be suspended for the first round of the playoffs.

BC though would continue to pour it on in the third. Aided by a partially blocked punt which put the ball on the Patriot 44, TJ Mays got his second touchdown run,, nine yards, with 8:25 left. Butler scored his second touchdown run, 15 yards, with 4:58 left.

The PAT missed but it was 27-6. Following a three and out, BC got another partially blocked punt and had the ball on Southwest’s 20. Though unable to punch it in, James Fordham kicked a 22-yard field goal early in the fourth to make it 30-6.

The Royals finally got a completely blocked punt by J’shun Hight after the next Patriot possession. Mays would scoop it up and score. The point after again missed but the rout was on, 42-6 with 7:35 left.

Austin Johnson is among the players making the stop.

Rodriguez Flagg capped all scoring on his first touchdown run of the season, five yards, with 2:23 left. No point after but BC won 42-6, capping their first 10-0 season.

Jahvon Butler almost scored on this run.
