No one will disparage the historic season for Royals football. Elven wins, the most in program history. The first region title for BCHS. However, Friday’s season-ending loss to Callaway in round two is one that will likely sting for a while.

Things got off to a fast start when TJ Mays dashed 63 yards to the endzone in the first minute of the game. Callaway though would return the ensuing kickoff to BC’s 32. With 9:37 left, a one-yard touchdown run tied the game.

The Cavaliers went ahead on a 26-yard touchdown pass with 3:51 left. In the second, Callaway intercepted a ball on the BC 36. A nine-yard touchdown run with 7:40 left increased the deficit to 21-7.

Callaway took a 28-7 lead into the dressing room thanks to a 58-yard touchdown pass. Both teams exchanged fumbles toward the end of the half. Another short touchdown run in the third pushed the deficit to 35-7. Late in the quarter, BC got the ball on the Cavalier 48.

However on fourth and four from the seven, a pass to the endzone was picked off. BC finally scored on a Jahvon Butler three-yard run late in the fourth. The season ended with a 35-14 loss.
