Last season, BCMS baseball finished last in the MGMSAA standings. This year, the team dropped both its scrimmage games, and its first two region games. But they rallied to win three of their final four to finish as the second seed in the region, and outlasted Swainsboro at home Thursday.

Zack Moe catches a popup.

That bought the Barons to the semifinals of the MGMSAA playoffs hosted at West Laurens. Bleckley's first opponent was JR Trippe. Allen-Mikel Floyd's leadoff home run was part of a threr-run Baron first. Though the Chiefs would get two in the second, BCMS answered with three more.

After scoring four in the home half of the third, the game appeared to be in hand. But a three-run homer in the fourth, a solo shot in the fifth, and three more Chief runs in the sixth cut the lead to 10-9. Ben Harris gave Bleckley some breathing room in the bottom of the sixth via a two-run home run. Bleckley held on to win 12-9.

Dylan Churchwell was 4 for 4 with 4 RBI. Ben Harris was 3 for 3 with the aforementioned home run, a double and 2 RBI. Kyle Brown was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Allen-Mikel Floyd was 2 for 4 with a home run and 1 RBI. Zack Moe was 2 for 4.

The win earned Bleckley a rematch with the homestanding West Laurens Raiders. Kace Kirkpatrick'single got the Barons on the board in the first, but West Laurens answered with a pair, including a leadoff homer. A two-run third gave Bleckley its last lead of the game.

Ben Harris lost his hat but made the catch in left.

WLMS tied the game in the third on a solo home run, and took a three-run lead in the fourth. BCMS appeared to have a chance to re-take the lead in the sixth, as they loaded the bases with no one out. But they could only push one run across. A six-run Raider sixth, including a grand slam, put the game out of reach. The Barons fell 12-4.

Kace Kirkpatrick was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Caleb Slaughter was 2 for 3. Allen-Mikel Floyd was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. John Bryant was 1 for 2. Bleckley finishes the season with a 5-4 region record. Congrats to the players and coaches on a good season.
