Head coach Janice Bryan speaks before the meal at Monday's banquet.

The 2008 season was a different experience for the Lady Barons softball team. Unlike past seasons, Bleckey returned just two starters. Players had to learn as the season progressed.

Attendees had chicken strips, vegatables, mashed potatos, and several deserts to chose from.

BCMS though did finish over .500 once again. They also fiished second to eventual MGMSAA region champion West Laurens in the Jeff Davis Mid-Season Diamond Classic held in Hazlehurst.

These decorations were made by assistant coach Ashley Wood.

Monday night, the team, coaches, families, and a few friends, gathered in the school caferia for the awards banquet. After a welcome by head coach Janice Bryan, her husband Ashley blessed the covered-dish dinner which was enjoyed by those in attendance.

T-shirts were given to the team.

After the meal, Coach Bryan then spoke. She said both her and assistant coach Ashley Woods were proud of this year's team. She said they were coachable, and worked hard. She also praised the parents for the way they cooaperated.

Old and current jersies, as well as the trophy from the Jeff Davis Mid-Season Diamond Classic, were on display.

Bryan also encouraged her players to keep their skills up by doing things such as getting together to throw, playing recreation softball or travel softball. She encouraged the eighth graders to work hard so they could help out the Lady Royals next year.

Kelsey Darsey hugs head coach Janice Bryan after she and Emmie Meadows presented the coaching staff with gifts.

Three awards were given out. Taylor Little and Emmie Meadows were both named best offensive player. Joanna Knight was named best defensive player. Maggie Bell won the coach's award. Tokens of appreciation were given to the managers. Meadows and Kelsey Darsey presented gifts to both coaches on behalf of the eighth graders.

L-R: Best defense: Joanna Knight, Best Offense Taylor Little, coach's award: Maggie Bell, best offense: Emmie Meadows.

Congratulations to all the award winners.
