The success of the 2008 Barons football team came as a surprise to many. But the season is one that won't be forgotten. An 8-2 record, and an MGMSAA runner-up made for one of the most successful years in BCMS history.

Tuesday night was an opportunity to honor those who helped make the historic season possible as the awards banquet was held at the middle school cafeteria. Superintendent Dr. Bill Rowe blessed the meal of grilled hamburgers and hotdogs.

Former NFL player Corey Harris offered a message of not giving up to the BCMS players.

After the meal, head coach Frank Taylor introduced the guest speaker. It was former BCHS coach Corey Harris, now coaching in Atlanta. Harris also played in the NFL for New Orleans and Kansas City. He began his remarks with a simple question "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?"

Harris told the story (his story) of someone who was told they couldn't play football because he was too small, but overcame. He went on to play high school, college, and pro ball for the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs.

Dalton Floyd was one of several players to recieve a "Helmet B."

Harris offere four points which he said had helped him and were important for the players to remember. They were: Chosing your friends wisely, having a good attitude, having a work ethic, and taking advantage of the opportunity life gives you. He closed again asking what you would do if you knew you couldn't fail. Harris recieved a standing ovation.
