When you've been to the MGMSAA title game twice in the past four years, there are high expectations. So when speaking about their season at Monday's Barons baseball awards banquet. head coach Phillip Hart said he felt this year's 5-6 record was dissappointing.

That's not to say Hart didn't have priase for his team. He offered plenty, especially the way the pitching staff developed. He also noted that they were the only team in the region to last a full seven innings with this year's region champion West Laurens. BCMS was a younger team this year, 12 of the 19 players on the roster were sixth or seventh graders.

The audience listens as head coach Phillip Hart speaks about the '09 season.

For the eighth graders, each was given a hooded sweatshirt as a token of appreciation. Hart had praise for each player as he presented their shirt. The entire team was introduced. Mangers were also recognized. Chris Fountain, who had been with Hart for two years, was also given a sweatshirt.

Clay Foskey, who pitched and caught for BCMS, receives his hooded sweatshirt.

Six individual awards were given. Hart had specific praise for each player as he presented the awards. Cal Young won the coaches award. C-Jae Coody got the big stick award for highest batting average. Vince Fisler got the hustle award. Lane Crummey one of two new students in Bleckley County, won the golden glove award.

Coach Hart speaks about eighth grade pitcher and infielder Frankie Lee Mullis.

Cason Young won the Future Baron award. Another new student, Chase Jarrard, was named MVP. In his closing remarks, Hart said he knew that sometimes parents would get frustrated with decisions he made on the field.

He said sometimes he questioned himself. But other times, he said parents would find something he did well, and he'd feel like a decision he made worked out. He said he not only strived to coach them to be good players, but good people as well. Hart thanked the parents for the opportunity to coach their sons.

Cason Young is presented with his Future Baron award.

After encouraging players to sign up for the Craig Young baseball camp (of which Hart will once again be a part of), he took time to praise the Homerun Club for all they'd done to help the team.

Chase Jarrard receives his MVP trophy.

Outgoing officers Tina Foskey (secretary) and Frankie Mullis (vice president) were recognized and their replacements (Cherry Evans as secretary, Michael Anderson as vice president) were announced.

L-R: Chase Jarrard, Lane Crummey, Cal Young, C-Jae Coody, Cason Young.

Hart dismissed the banquet thanking everyone for coming. Congratulations to all the award winners.
