Another cancellation: Pitbulls issue statement regarding Saturday's no-show by Charleston.

Saturday, the Middle Georgia Pitbulls were set to play their first home game at the old West Laurens High School. Their opponent was the Charleston Hawks. Charleston was their scheduled opponent on July 3 but did not appear.

Unfortunately for those who attended, history repeated itself. Monday, the Pitbulls released a statement regarding the situation.

"On July 17th, 2010, the community-based Middle Georgia Pitbulls football team was scheduled to play the Charleston Hawks at the old West Laurens High School in a re-scheduled game from July 3.

Unfortunately, the Charleston Hawks did not show for their scheduled game. Again that notice upset players, staff, and most importantly, fans and media who traveled to the game. In a statement released from the league today:

“We sincerely apologize in the fullest for the immediate inconvenience on July 3 and July 17 to everyone dealing with the Middle Georgia Pitbulls.

The way the Hawks dealt with their situation is very
unacceptable and will face stern penalties for the cancellations against the Pitbulls.

Many people whom deal with MGP are continually
losing money and support due to their unbusiness-like conduct. We know stadium rental and officials are fees that are paid pre-game and expected to be reimbursed with game attendance.

Yet, over $1500 are out of the Pitbulls pockets with nothing to show. We greatly apologize again!" - James Sharp, Commissioner of the SEAFL

As a non-profit 501(c)(3) approved football team, it is already hard enough to provide transportation and purchase equipment for our team, and we hope that this incident does not hinder you for providing your continued support and donations to our team.

Please continue to support us as we travel to Anderson, South Carolina this Saturday, and return home on July 31 vs. Hinesville Hurricanes. We hope to continue this
season with your support and bring a championship to the Middle Georgia Area in 2010!!!!"

MGP returns home versus Hinesville July 31 and will be home again on August 7 when they welcome Tri County.
