Bleckley youth participate in Scholastic Clay Target Program.

Bleckley County youth participate in various shooting competitions with others from the Ocmulgee River Gun Club in Macon GA called the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP).

This past Saturday, SCTP had 16 shooters participate in the Georgia SCTP Sporting Clay Championship in Gay at Big Red Oak Plantation against 108 shooters. The teams range from Rookie to Varsity level teams with each shooter shooting 100 targets each and there were several who came home with first place medals and trophies.

The Intermediate Entry Level Team received first place with a total score of 241 and the Varsity Team received first place with a total score of 263. Receiving first place high overall individual scores were Cal Young with 92, Clay Foskey with 91, and Wesley Hobbs received second place with 86.

The teams are as follows:
Varsity Team – Spencer Kirkpatrick, Tyler Dennis, and Clay Foskey
Junior Varsity Team – Cal Young, Luke Mosley, and Jake Purser
Intermediate entry level Team – Will Fordham, Wesley Hobbs, and Cody Dennis
Intermediate Advanced Team - Tommy Royal, Spencer Eli (Macon GA), and Chambers English (Macon GA)
Individual - River Wood, Blake Bohannon, and James Foskey
Rookie - Jonathon Fountain
Coach – Todd Kirkpatrick

The shooters next tournaments will be held in Savannah GA at the Forest City Gun Club SCTP GA State Skeet Championship on June 25-26, 2011. These shooters are preparing for the SCTP Nationals which are held in Sparta Illinois in July. We welcome your support and encouragement as these young shooters venture out with great expectations.
