On May 14-18, Bleckley County Elementary School will particpate in the "Feed My School For A Week" Program. Bleckley, along with Colquitt and Hall Counties, were selected for participation.

According to a news release, "Feed My School For A Week" is designed to help students learn where their food comes from. It is also designed to promote nutrional options and healthier meals.

The State Departments Of Education and Agriculture respectively have been working together to provide fresh produce options for school districts. During the participation week, all lunches will contain 75-100 percent food that was Georgia Grown.

According to Black, during the program week, students will learn where their food comes from while at the same time receiving a "healthy, delicious, meal."

For more information on the program, contact Dr. Kathy C. Peavy, School Nutrtion Director, kpeavy@bleckley.k12.ga.us
