The Cochran-Bleckley EMA is sponsoring a Support Benefit Raffle for Allen “AB” Brantley. Allen has just been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatobiliary carcinoma at the first of December and will begin his treatments starting December 17.

This treatment will take place every other week and consist of two days of chemo. For 9.5 years Allen has worked with ComSouth and was previously with MidState Cable/Communicom for 17 years however, with this ongoing treatment plan, Allen will be on restrictive work and will need the support of his family, friends, and community to see him win this battle. With this support and generosity, we will be able to lessen the stress from the insurmountable medical expenses to come.

Allen has been a lifelong resident and great friend of Bleckley County and has a wonderful supportive family as he goes through this battle with cancer. His wife Sheila and their children Heather (Kelly) Hitchcock and Morgan (Phillip) Warren and his grandchildren Abbi, Anna, and Alli are such a humble family just asking for our prayers. They pray that as Allen goes through this fight that people’s lives may be touched and that they can be a source of strength for others that are going through these types of issues in their life.

Starting in 1990 Allen was a founding member of the Cochran-Bleckley EMA and an integral part of the Cochran-Bleckley Fire Department. He has given many hours serving the community and seeing the transformation through the decades of EMA and Fire to where it is today. He feels that the best part of serving the community is seeing people’s lives change after going through life altering events. Allen considers himself and those that serve the community “Unsung Heroes” by doing what we have to do to get the job done.

However, his greatest value that he cherishes the most is being a born again Christian. He has learned through the years that no matter what material goods you have, if you do not have Jesus Christ as your Savior that you have gained nothing in life. Out of this fight with cancer, he hopes that someone who does not know Jesus Christ may see Jesus through him and his family so that they too may come to know Jesus as their Savior.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Now it is our chance to lend a helping hand, raising these funds so that Allen can focus on getting healthy again. The best part of our community is our ability to band together and support those in need. Spread the word and lets do all we can to support our own.

If you are interested in helping to support Allen through this fight please see a member of the Cochran-Bleckley EMA to purchase your raffle ticket or make a donation. Also, there is donation containers throughout Cochran and Bleckley County.
