It was a historic Friday night at the Bleckley Middle School gym. The Barons were playing for a MGMSAA championship berth for the first time in six years. They were playing in front of the home fans in the first time BCMS had hosted region.

Fans hold up signs of support Friday night.

Bleckley and JR Trippe had split the regular season series with each winning on the other's home court. Shamar Rouse, the hero of last night's game, had four early points to give BC the lead after one. Despite going cold after Nick Mack's second quarter three, the lead was 13-10 at halftime.

A Chiefs player tries to prevent Shamar Rouse from scoring.

After an eight-point third quarter lead was cut to three, Nykeem Farrow hit a buzzer beating three to make it 26-20 going to the fourth. Despite going the first 3:15 without a basket, the Chiefs were held at bay. Bleckley led by eight with about two minutes left.

Mekell Farrow and a Chiefs player fight for the ball.

But consecutive free throws that could've made it a two score game were missed. Down 35-32 with 14 seconds remaining, the Chiefs missed a pair of free throws but BC couldn't get the rebound. JRT hit a three with seven seconds left, sending the game to overtime.

The BCMS Cheerleaders try to rally fans during the game.

A four-point Chief lead was cut to one on a Farrow three. One of three free throws on a three point attempt tied the score. Down one with less than 30 seconds left, Farrow scored with 21 seconds left to make it 43-42. But the Chiefs scored with seven seconds left. BC's last second shot was short in a 44-3 loss.

Nykeem Farrow scores in overtime.

Farrow had 21. Bleckley was 10 of 18 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and overtime. The team finishes with a 6-9 record.
