Anuj Patel just missed qualifying at state in the 800 meter run.

Both the girls and boys track teams enjoyed good seasons. The girls won their second straight region title, the boys finished runner up. Ten athletes won individual region titles. Eight received medals at state.

Bronson Sanders qualified for sectionals in the 3200 meter run despite being a first time track participant.

Athletes, coaches, and families gathered in the auditorium Thursday to celebrate the season. All received certificates and sheets with their results from the season.

Fellisia Young broke school records in both the long and triple jump at state.

Nine school records were broken during the season. Those who did received paperweights. Ellen Powell received a plaque for winning the 800 meter run for a second straight year.

T'Keyah Pasby finished sixth at state in shot put.

After recognition of the region champions, it was time for MVP's based upon points scored. Fellisia Young was the field MVP. Powell, who also finished fifth in the triple jump at region, was track and field MVP.

The award winners L-R: Will Simmons, Cord Yearty, Austin Cook, Carl Ellis Corley, Ellen Powell, Fellisia Young. Not pictured: Tije'a Randall.

There were ties for most boys points scored. Track MVP went to both Carl Ellis Corley and Austin Cook. The field MVP went to Tije'a Randall, Will Simmons, and Cord Yearty. Congratulations to all the award winners.
