House of Grace teams one and two shake hands after the field final there. HOG 2 won in two games.

Though forecasts called for rain, skies remained clear throughout as the Bleckley Church League Softball tournament resumed Saturday. Games took place at House of Grace, Ruth Baptist, and Limestone Baptist fields.

Scott Allen gets a hit for HOG 2.

Each field held it's own final. For the first time in a long time, all three finals required two games. Mt. Calvary Baptist, who had suffered an earlier loss to Lakeview Baptist, defeated them twice to advance from Ruth.

House of Grace team two had defeated HOG 1 earlier Saturday morning. They needed two games to advance. And at Limestone Baptist, Bethany and First Baptist played two games, Bethany had won earlier that morning. A second game win sent Bethany to the finals.

Records were reset for the championship series played at Ruth. Mt. Calvary defeated HOG 2 in the first game 9-2. Bethany got a bye based upon runs scored. Because of the way the brackets were set, Mt. Calvary would play Bethany next and lose 8-2.

For the second straight year, Trinity Episcopal Church won the regular season sportsmanship award as voted on by all teams. Mike Lee accepted the award.

They would have a short break, and play again versus HOG 2. HOG had a 2-1 lead but Mt. Calvary rallied to win 6-2. Playing against Bethany in the finals, MCB got late inning runs and forced a second game 3-2. Bethany took a 9-0 lead in that contest and won the title 9-2.
