JV players with their certificates.

There were a lot of awards to hand out at Monday night's BCHS baseball awards banquet. The JV had a 17-1 season, the varsity broke a six-game postseason losing skid advancing for the first time since 2009.

Austin Hudson came to Bleckley late. He battled injuries but did other things to help like keeping pitching charts.

Players, coaches, and families enjoyed a steak dinner. Head coach Brad Davis took the opportunity to thank the many people who've supported them during the season including parents and school administrators.

Ty Edge received a special plaque commemorating his first career no hitter versus Putnam County.

After player certificates, the first award presented were all region selections voted on by the coaches of 4-AA. First team selections were as follows. Ty Edge- Utility. Carter Raffield- Pitcher. Chance Pittman- First Base. Benji Knighton- Second base.

Benji Knighton played both second base and also DH.

Those making second team were: Wesley Hobbs, pitcher. Cody Dennis, catcher. Shortstop, Chandler Abney. Outfield, Cole Brown. Nash Mullis and Christian Kight received Honorable Mentions for outfield.

Christian Kight made several big catches in right field. He receives his award from assistant coach William Barham.

Two JV awards were presented. Best Offense- Spencer Brown. Best Pitcher- Shayne Cannon. Those awards, just as the first three varsity awards were based on stats. Knighton got the varsity Best Offense award. Dennis won Best Defense. Raffield and Hobbs shared Best Pitcher honors.

The final two awards were voted on by teammates. Captain's Awards went to Edge, Brown, and Hobbs. The team voted manager Will Dykes as MVP. Davis made a point to recognize managers Desmond Sasser and Austin Rogers for their efforts this season.

Of Will Dykes, Davis said he always did what was asked and made it easier for the coaches to do their job.

On the season, he said while they would miss this year's senior class, there was a lot of young talent coming up. He said they wouldn't be satisfied with just making the second round, they would continue to work hard because they wanted to go deeper in the playoffs.

The award winners. Standing L-R: Benji Knighton, Cole Brown, Cody Dennis, Chance Pittman, Chandler Abney, Carter Raffield, Shayne Cannon, Will Dykes. Kneeling L-R: Nash Mullis, Wesley Hobbs, Ty Edge, Spencer Brown, Christian Kight.

Senior players closed out the evening by presenting gifts to the coaching staff. Congratulations to all the award winners.
