Though it was a much shorter trip to Houston County High School for the Middle Georgia Cheer Classic, BCMS faced more competition. They were one of seven teams in the small school division that included Dodge County and former region opponent Toombs County.
As the team prepared to take the floor, you could hear the ever-familiar chant of "Bleckley County!" ring out from a large group of supporters in attendance. Though the squad won first place last week, they improved performance wise.
Everything stuck. All stunts went up. Flips on the pyramid, full extension on stunts, for a second routine, BC was sharp, loud, and crisp in every phase. They were understandably excited after the music ended, and the crowd applauded their efforts.
However, sometimes in cheerleading, things happen. BCMS finished second place. Though girls (and many parents) were frustrated, both coaches made a point to say how proud they were of the squad's performance.

Another plus from the day was accomplishing the goal of scoring at least 200 points. BCMS will be off until October 22 when they travel to Statesboro High School.
