During his 31 years as an employee of Bleckley County High School, Benjy Rogers has worn many hats. They include being an assistant football coach, head coach of both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams, golf head coach, as well as part of a season coaching both high school soccer teams.

Before his current job as Adaptive PE teacher, Rogers spent several years as assistant principal. He's been athletic director for the past five years and has also been on the GHSA Executive Committee.

According to Superintendent Steve Smith at the called board meeting naming Von Lassiter head football coach and and athletic director, Rogers had expressed a desire to scale back his duties. Smith praised Rogers many years of service, saying he'd been "The face of Bleckley County High School,"

That familiar face will be retiring at the end of this school year. His resignation "with regret" due to retirement , was accepted at last night's monthly Board of Education meeting. According to the minutes, Rogers' last day will be May 31.
