Many fans had noisemakers to support the team.

In the seven-year history of the current BCHS baseball field, a bigger game hadn't been played. It was game three, an elite eight berth on the line as Heard and Bleckley squared off. The game proved to be a memorable one.

Trip Purser tosses to second to get the lead runner on a bunt attempt.

Up 1-0 on Nash Mullis' third inning single, Heard tied the game on a sac fly in the fourth. BC had two on with one out in the home half but didn't score. A three-run fifth made it 4-1 Braves.

Benji Knighton receives it to complete the play.

The Royals answered with three in the sixth. Down 5-4 in the seventh, Chandler Abney led off with a single. Carter Raffield reached on a fly ball dropped by the second baseman. Chance Pittman was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Steven Knighton walked with the bases loaded, tying the game.

Chandler Abney took second after the dropped fly ball.

With two outs and the bases still loaded, Cody Dennis walked, giving the Royals a literal walkoff win 6-5. It clinches the first elite eight berth for BCHS since 2009. Though only with four hits, BC took advantage of seven walks and two hit batters.

Steven Knighton got the walk to tie the game and scored the game-winning run on a walk.

Head coach Brad Davis attributed the comeback to having a never say die attitude saying, "We'll battle tooth and nail until the game's over." He also said they had an approach for Heard's pitchers and credited players for sticking to it.

It'll be the battle of BC's when Bleckley County hosts Bacon County in the elite eight. The series starts May 10. Game times are TBD.
