Free water and soft drinks made sure everyone stayed hydrated.

Around 9:15, it started. The puffs of smoke. The loud crack of fireworks, colors exploding in the night sky over the former Lithonia Lighting building.

Boys, one wearing several glow necklaces given away, wait for the show.

It was a fireworks show done by Cochran's newest church, Christ Chapel Cochran. Unofficial estimates had anywhere between 1,500 and 2,000 people attending. Many parked at the church, while others watched across the way at La Cabana.

The show lasted about 20 minutes, with each burst seemingly bigger than the last. This was the second event for Christ Chapel, who hosted an egg drop next door at the rec. department Easter weekend.

Pastor Rich Hulsey, who served as emcee and thanked the crowd for attending, said before the show that they would be doing other community events in conjunction with CBRD in the future.
