Middle Georgia State adding Technical Writing and Digital Communications Graduation Certificate.

Middle Georgia State University will begin offering a graduate certificate in Technical Writing and Digital Communication this October. Recently approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the fully online program consists of 15 masters level hours. It's open to students who've completed their undergraduate degree or receive permission from the dean.

The program was developed by Middle Georgia State's English Department, the School of Information Technology, and the Department of Media, Culture, and the Arts. The graduate certificate will be administered by the English department. It's geared toward professionals who want to develop expertise in technical writing, social media communication and web development.

At least one class in the program will be offered during fall semester's second session, starting October 9. Other classes will be added for spring semester 2018.

Program courses are:
· English 5106 - Technical Writing in the Digital Age
· New Media and Communications 5108 - Writing and Publishing in Digital Environments
· Information Technology 5300 - Web Development
· Information Technology 5310 - Human Computer Interaction
· Information Technology 5320 - Instructional Design

Admission requirements are as follows:
· A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
· Evidence of aptitude for success in graduate-level studies
· 2.5 undergraduate GPA or better
· Letter of interest
· For residents of Georgia, documentation of lawful residence
