Frustrated again: Lady Royals unable to hold late lead against Dodge County.

Last year, the Lady Royals lost a pair of close games to Dodge County, a one-run game in Eastman, a nine-inning affair at home. Monday, that frustration continued in their closest loss yet.

A two-out, bases clearing double in the third put Dodge ahead 3-0. After having first and second with no outs in the home half but failing to score, BC got two in the fourth. Trailing 4-2 in the sixth, Aliyah Whitehead's two-run single capped a three-run inning. All came with two outs.

Tori Long tags out a Dodge player who got caught in a rundown.


Dodge loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, scoring four times. BC got two on with two outs in the home half but did not score, losing 8-5.

Whitehead finished 2 for 4. Bailey Odom and Abbey Sims each went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Emily Sanders was 2 for 3. Jordan Williams was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.

In other news, Riley Edge went back into a walking boot with more trouble from her foot injury. The September 12 home game versus Dublin postponed due to Irma will be made up September 25 at 5:30 pm. Bleckley hosts East Laurens tomorrow at 5:30 pm.
