Landa Dominy slides safely into third base.

Yogi Berra coined the phrase “It’s like Déjà vu all over again.” That describes how Wednesday’s 3-AA softball tournament games went. For the second straight year, Bleckley made it to the finals but had no answer for Dodge County.

Tied at 2 against East Laurens, Landa Dominy’s third inning double put BCHS ahead. Still 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, two runs scored on a dropped fly ball hit by Jordan Williams. The Lady Royals held on 5-2. Abbey Sims went 2 for 3. Aliyah Whitehead was 2 for 4.

BC then took on Dodge County for first place. A runner at third with one out was left stranded. Three errors contributed to a five-run Lady Indian home half. Sims led off the second with a double but did not score. She would be their last baserunner of the game. Dodge scored three in home half of the second, then used consecutive two-run innings to win 12-0.

Sitting L-R: Aliyah Whitehead, Jordan Williams. Kneeling L-R: Arie Williams, Ashlyn Williams, Bailey Odom, Caroline Thrower. Standing L-R: Coach Phillip Hart, Tori Long, Landa Dominy, Miranda Pearson, Jayla Willis, Riley Edge, Emily Sanders, Abbey Sims, head coach Teresa Gray, coach Katie Beard.
