Tori Long drops to a knee to make a catch at second base.

As Lady Royal softball players and supporters left Berrien County High School Wednesday night, there had to be a feeling of déjà vu. Because for the third straight season, BCHS won the first game in their second round playoff series only to lose the second.

Teammates watch head coach Teresa Gray congratulate Landa Dominy on her home run.

Down 2-1 in the fourth, Aliyah Whitehead’s single tied the game. It was untied in the fifth on a Landa Dominy solo home run. Jayla Willis made it 4-2 Bleckley in the sixth on her first career home run. Dominy hit a second solo shot in the seventh and Tori Long had an RBI single in the seventh in a 6-2 win. Bailey Odom threw a two-hitter.

Abbey Sims blocks the plate for a force out in game two.

Dominy finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Whitehead was 2 for 3 with a double.

Jordan Williams squeezes a pop fly.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Jayla Willis singled to lead off but was left stranded. Berrien scored three more in the fourth. Neither a two on with one out in the bottom of the fourth, nor a two on with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, produced any runs.

Aliyah Whitehead came up from centerfield to finish out a rundown play.

Though the Reblettes walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh with one out, Bleckley was shut out 6-0. They stranded nine, no player had two hits. The Lady Royals will try to clinch a berth to Columbus by winning game three tomorrow against Berrien at 4:30 pm in Nashville.
