A Dublin player tries to prevent Markayla Jenkins from scoring.

It was a very tough visit to Dublin for BCHS. The girls lost late while the boys couldn’t sustain a 16-point second quarter lead.

Jahnaria Brown battles a double team.

Down 13-10 after one, Markayla Jenkins had five points as the Lady Royals pulled ahead by four. Dublin though closed 8-0 to lead 23-19 at halftime. Still down four going to the fourth, Jahnaria Brown had the game-tying basket in an 11-2 run that put BC up five.

Keisha Anderson had five third quarter points.

Dublin though would respond, tying the game at 46 on a three with 23 seconds left. A steal and layup with 12 seconds left and Bleckley trailed 48-46. Though hitting one of two free throws with six seconds left, BC never got the ball back, losing 48-47. Brown had 18 points. Keisha Anderson scored 11 points.

Torenio Davis hit this jumper despite the defense.

Mykel Anderson’s 11th point of the first quarter came on a layup as time expired, giving the Royals 27-14 lead. Though up 16 early in the second, Dublin used a 22-9 outburst to draw within three by halftime. An Irish 9-0 run to close the third gave them their biggest lead of the game, eight points.

RJ Barnes got the "hoop and harm" on this play.

In a fourth quarter that tempers flare because of Dublin freezing the ball and drawing several fouls, the final three plus minutes were played with the Irish holding the ball and BC not contesting. The Royals lost 73-59. Anderson had 17 points.

Devric Johnson scored with ten seconds left to give the Royals a 39-36 halftime lead.

BCHS hosts Southwest tomorrow. Note the early start time, 2 pm.
