Carter Raffield tracks down a popped up bunt.

With a roster full of returning talent including pre-season All American Carter Raffield, expectations are high for this year’s BCHS baseball team. But after winning a scrimmage last week against Jenkins County, the Royals struggled at West Laurens.

Andrew Butler snags a ball in left field.

Though loading the bases with one out in the first, BC’s only runs came on a pair of walks. The Raiders scored five times with two outs in the fourth to go up 6-2. They added three more in the fifth and sixth innings to win 12-2.

Tripp Purser steals second base.

Bleckley had two hits, the final one a Raffield single in the third. Nine of the 12 runs given up were earned. The team plays Ringgold High School and Greenbreir at Richmond Hill High School February 17. Game times are 10 am and 4 pm.
