Lane Kitchens slides safely into third base.

Just as when the Royals broke Hawkinsville’s seven-game winning streak in 2015, the Red Devils were bound to snap what had become a five-game winning streak for BCHS in the series. They did so Tuesday night thanks in part to missed opportunities by Bleckley.

Carson Waters throws from short.

A dropped fly ball in the third with two outs allowed Steven Knighton to score, getting BC to within 3-2. Bleckley had two on with one out in the fourth but didn’t score. The Red Devils got an unearned run in the fifth. Steven Knighton singled to lead off the home half but was left on base.

Noah Wimberly caught the ball, got the force at second, and went to first.

After going down in order in the sixth, Bleckley loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh. However, it produced no runs in a 4-2 Hawkinsville win. The Royals stranded 10 runners. Knighton was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Andrew Butler was 1 for 2.

Carter Raffield got the ball out to complete a double play.

Bleckley hosts West Laurens March 2. JV play at 4 pm with varsity to follow.
