Carson Waters helped turn a double play during the game.

Following a week off, BCHS returned to the diamond, looking to keep pace in region play against East Laurens. Two big blasts and a good start from Shayne Cannon were part of a successful night.

Tripp Purser had a sacrifice bunt.

Chandler Abney hit a solo home run, his first, and the team’s first, in the bottom of the second to put the Royals up 2-0. Leading 2-1 in the fourth, Andrew Butler scored on a wild pitch. He had singled with two outs, stole second, then took third on a throwing error.

Shayne Cannon, who worked out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the fifth, laced a bases-clearing double in the home half. Following a Steven Knighton two-run single in the sixth, Carter Raffield hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot, giving the Royals an 11-1 win. Steven Knighton was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI including a first inning sac fly.

Teammates await Carter Raffield after he hit a game-clinching three-run home run in the sixth.

Cannon was 2 for 3 and struck out six in five innings pitched. Butler and Sam Knighton were each 2 for 3. Chandler Abney was 1 for 2. Bleckley plays at Veterans High School March 19 at 6 pm.
