Dylan Cowart sets to throw to first after a bunt.

The 2019 BCHS baseball season has been one to remember. A region title and the first semifinal appearance since 1996. However, Wednesday’s deciding game against Jeff Davis will probably sting (no pun intended) for a while because it’s one they arguably should've won.

Down 7-3 after two innings (the Jackets won the coin toss and were home), BC took advantage of four errors to score eight times in the third.. However, they lost first baseman Steven Knighton, who’d homered in the first, to a shoulder injury. The lead grew to five on Carson Waters’ single in the fifth, but the bases were left loaded.

Lane Kitchens scores during Bleckley's eight-run top of the third.

Two runs in the home half made it 12-9. Bleckley stranded two more runners in the sixth. The second sac fly of the inning in the home half gave Jeff Davis a 13-12 lead. Two on with two out in the top of the seventh produced no runs as the Royals season ended, 13-12.

Knighton was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI. Brody Little went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Jack Fernandez went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Lane Kitchens went 2 for 4. Bleckley finishes the season 26-14.
