Celebrating a season they wish wasn't over with.

Eight days ago, the best season for BCHS baseball in 23 years ended. At Thursday night’s awards banquet, head coach Brad Davis said he was so fired up after the exciting year, he would’ve begun preparations for 2020 that night if allowed to do so.

The 40 games played were the most in school history. Davis said the 26 wins were close to a record also. Their final four finish was the best finish since 1996 when the Royals lost at home to Lovett. Not to mention the second region title in the past three seasons and a sweep of longtime rival Dodge County.

Region coaches recognized Bleckley’s success. Eight selections to the 3-AA All Region team including Player of the Year Lane Kitchens and Pitcher of the Year Brody Little. Besides recognition of all region selections, here are the other awards handed out.

JV. Best Offense- Tyler Weaver. Pitcher- Conner Senters. Varsity. Best Offense- Lane Kitchens. Infielder- Carson Waters. Pitcher- Tripp Purser. Most Improved- Ethan Hulsey. Coach’s Award- Jack Fernandez. Captain’s Awards went to Kitchens, Fernandez, and Andrew Thompson. Kitchens was voted by teammates as MVP.

Kitchens, Thompson, Brody Little, Fernandez, Steven Knighton, Waters, Hulsey, and Purser were all recognized for leading in statistical categories. Other presentations closed the ceremony before guests enjoyed a meal from BW’s BBQ. Congratulations to all the award winners.
