For the first three innings of Monday’s MGMSAA opener at Swainsboro, the Lady Barons appeared to suffer from a heat-induced malaise. They stranded four runners, including one at third with one out. Miscues contributed to a five-run bottom of the second.

Pinch-runner Amiyah Roberts beat the ball to second base.

Ke’Myah Anderson’s two-out single in the fourth cut into the deficit. But the run was recovered via an RBI groundout in the home half. It was the fifth inning in which the tide turned. Four errors and a hit batter with the bases loaded helped fuel an 11-run Lady Baron outburst.

Lauren Coley threw to third base to get an advancing runner.

Two more in sixth and BC appeared close to putting the game away only for the Lady Tigers to score three in their half. Anderson’s fifth hit of the game was part of a five-run seventh. Bleckley went on to win 20-9. Anderson was 5 for 6 with a triple and 2 RBI.

Taylor Watford caught the ball and got the out.

Kenna Bowman was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Riley Haley went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles. BCMS hosts Crisp County tomorrow at 4 pm.
