There are games in which one team doesn’t play well and loses. Then there are those like Thursday’s BCMS home softball game against Jeff Davis in which the Lady Barons almost played good enough to win.

Taylor Watford sets to throw from third base.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the second, a two on, one out opportunity produced no runs. Two in the fourth cut into what was a 5-0 deficit, but the bases were left loaded. BC had gotten within 5-4 after five innings but mistakes led to the Lady Jackets getting a sixth run in the sixth.

Addison Hill receives the ball at first base.

The Lady Barons stranded two runners in the home half, another in the seventh, in losing 6-4. Seven runners were stranded in the final four innings. Makenzie Oxley went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Ter’Nazia Elvine went 2 for 4. Lauren Coley went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.

Cayleigh Francis makes a running catch in right field.

BCMS hosts Dodge County September 16 at 4 pm.
