It was an uneven regular season for the Lady Royals. They had great wins including breaking a 12-game losing streak against Dodge County as well as bad losses like a surprising home defeat against East Laurens.

That inconsistent play was on display Tuesday when BCHS welcomed 1-AA third seed Thomasville for round one of the playoffs. Already up 6-0 in game one, Riley Edge hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second. Edge had a triple in a two-run bottom of the fourth in an 11-3 game one win.

She finished 3 for 3 with 5 RBI. E’Lisia Vickers went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI. Addisyn Keel was 2 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI. Clara Rickerson went 1 for 2 with a sac fly and 2 RBI. Trinity Glover was 1 for 2 with an RBI sac fly.

Thomasville jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game two, thanks in part to shaky defense. Bleckley scored twice in the fourth but left the bases loaded. Trailing 7-2 in the fifth, Darci Dillard’s three-run shot made it 7-5, but runners were left at second and third.

The Lady Bulldogs got a solo homer in the bottom to go up 8-5. Three in the top of the sixth tied the score, two more runners were left stranded. Though able to strand a leadoff error in the home half, BC failed to capitalize with two on and no out in the seventh.

A Thomasville player beat home a ground ball to first with the bases loaded in the home half as BCHS lost 9-8, stranding 10 runners. Krieg went 3 for 5 with a double. Keel was 2 for 4. Rebecca Bowling went 2 for 5. Game three is tomorrow at 5 pm with the winner traveling to Heard County for round two.
