Bleckley County High School FBLA members, along with advisors Melissa Barker and Julie Lane, traveled to Athens November 13-14 for Fall Leadership Conference. After arrival, the group went on a walking tour of the UGA campus.
They enjoyed seeing the beauty of Athens, Samford Stadium, and Dooley Field. After visiting the UGA Bookstore, it was lunch at the Tate Student Center with some also making a quick stop at Starbucks.
The group then headed to the Georgia Game Day Center for study time to prepare for the Statesmen Test. Masi Corbin, Olivia Williams, and Sophie Knight would also be taking the Battle of the Chapters exam. It was then time for dinner at the Athens Diner, then over to the Classic Center for opening ceremonies. Williams and Corbin served as Region 5 officers.
Their final stop of the night was the convention side of the Classic Center to take the Statesman Test. Congratulations to Williams, Ashlynne Corbin, Barker, and Lane for achieving Statesman status.
Thursday, students had the opportunity to experience many different workshops taught by Georgia State FBLA officers as well as community leaders covering subjects such as making the most of FBLA, state officer orientation, and so much. They also had the chance to purchase tickets for the Scholarship Basket drawing which pays for FBLA scholarships throughout the year.

Knight and Raleigh Hagler both won baskets. Following the conference’s conclusion, the group prepared to head home, stopping at Zaxby’s along the way.
Bleckley FBLA is very appreciative of opportunities to travel to conferences so they can greater their growth as future leaders. They’re also very proud of members and officers who attended the Athens conference as BCHS students always represent the community with high standards of behavior and poise.
