For fans of BCHS athletics, this decade has been one to remember. One full of memorable moments, historic finishes, and state championships. Here’s a year-by-year look at some of the big moments for Royal athletics over the past ten years.

2011- Lady Royals softball advances to the elite eight for the first time in school history since the switch to fastpitch.

2012- Royals football hosts a home playoff game for the first time in BCHS history.

2013- Royals basketball had their best finish in BCHS history, falling in the state title game to Greater Atlanta Christian. Royals baseball hosted their first state playoff games at the current baseball field. Royals football won a playoff game for the first time since 2006.

2014- Royals football won for the first time ever versus Dublin, a 28-21 victory at the Shamrock Bowl. (per Georgia High School Football Historians.)

2015- Boys cross country gives coach Shelly Cranford his first state title.

2016- Boys cross country becomes the first two-time state champion, girls win their first..

2017- Lady Royals basketball advances to the final four for the first time in BCHS history. Boys and girls tennis win state, the first titles for coach Brad Sanders. It also marks the first time four teams won state in the same year. ‘

Boys track had its best finish in program history, state runner up. Girls soccer clinches a state playoff berth for the first time in program history. BCHS won its first GADA Director’s Cup for 2016-17 in both boys and girls athletics. Girls cross country became the first team in school history to repeat as state champions.

Also that year, Lady Royals softball broke a three-year losing streak in the second round of state to reach the elite eight for the second time in program history. BCHS competition cheerleading had its first top six finish in eight years, placing sixth in Columbus.

2018- Girls tennis became the second team in school history to win back to back state titles. Boys tennis finished runner up. Girls golf finished state runner up for the first time in program history. Girls cross country continued their dominance, winning a third straight state title.\

2019- Girls tennis jointed cross country as three-time state champions. Boys track won its first state title in program history. Girls golf finished state runner up for a second straight year. Baseball advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 1996. BCHS won the Director’s Cup for girls athletics, its second in three years. Girls cross country became the first four-time state champions.

Also this year, Royals football broke a five-game losing streak to Dodge County in clinching a playoff berth, its first since 2014. Lady Royals softball broke a 12-game winning streak to Dodge County in advancing to the second round of state.
