Boys cruise in split at Perry.

Saturday was the first of the final two regular season non-region games for BCHS as teams traveled to Perry for an afternoon matinee. Bleckley looked for the season sweep.

Kiara Gilbert hit this three.


The Lady Royals were without Jalexia Taylor and Markayla Jenkins, both nursing nagging injuries. Down 19-11 at halftime, BC got within 19-14 on a Kiara Gilbert three but were then outscored 13-7. Perry opened the fourth 6-0, effectively putting the game out of reach, in a 40-28 loss. Gilbert had 13 points.

Jhamir Marshall and Terrance Rozier combined for 21 first half points as the Royals led 30-24. They opened the third 16-7, only to see the Panthers score late to draw within 14 to begin the fourth. However, Bleckley would score nine straight to begin the quarter as swept the season series with a 66-51 win.

Shontavian Manuel got the "hoop and harm" on this play.


Marshall finished with 19 points. Rozier and Shontavian Manuel added 15 points each. BCHS plays at Veterans January 28. Varsity tip time is 6 pm.
