No news isn't good news.

When my dad and I would arrive home after he'd driven me to a long distance game/cheerleading competition, we'd check the mail. If there was nothing in the mailbox, he'd say "no news is good news," meaning no bills had arrived.

I've not posted a financial update in a while. But it's not because things are actually good. Rather, it's been an attempt to spare you having to read it because I understand it can grow tiresome.

In any event, I was able to access my dad's IRA in January. Got the garage door fixed. However, I had to pay $839 to complete the filing of the 2017 HR Account taxes. I also had to pay $296 because of loose radiator hose in my car, the radiator had to be flushed.

But the estate remains unsettled. The only thing I can tell you publicly is that it's circumstances completely beyond my control. Making things worse, I was recently denied permission to use my dad's IRA to pay a very small personal life bill.

On top of that, because of an insurance issue (which I've yet to be able to resolve), I had to postpone my yearly eye appointment because of the cost of paying for it out of pocket. For those of you who don't know, I have lazy eye. My right eye is good, left eye pretty much useless.

The only good thing to report is a business that will begin advertising once my web host provider is able to post it. But that's just $30 a month. While it will help, things are much more dire than that.

This is why I've asked for donations (Paypal BleckleyProgress@aol,com, Google Pay bleckleycheerfan@gmail.com.) Why I've told you about services such as my transferring VCR tapes to DVD for $10 a month, the special announcement section. And why I started my own GoFundMe called simply "Help Dave and Bleckley Progress."

Because I am in a situation I cannot control. The stress of it, plus trying to run the best online newspaper I'm capable of is wearing me down both physically and emotionally.

I realize this is a lot to digest. And I wish there was better news, or no need for news like this. But as the site celebrates its 14th year, I felt you should know about the ongoing struggles as I try to make it 15 years of Bleckley Progress being "Where to go when you need to know."

Thanks for your readership and support.
