Though Governor Brian Kemp’s executive order allowed churches to resume holding in-person services last week if they adhered to social distancing guidelines, many have been reticent to do so, still holding services online.

One church though found a way to get the congregation together while still keeping everyone safe. Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church held a drive-in service Sunday morning. The service was held in the parking lot, members remained in their cars during it.

Pastor Ryan Vargas said in a phone interview he was very pleased with the turnout and added thing went smoothly for their first attempt. He added he was unaware of how much of an impact having the congregation together, even though they were in their vehicles, would have on him personally.

The church plans to do drive-in services throughout May then re-evaluate where things stand. Services will be held in the parking lot each week at 11 am. Union Hill is located at 812 GA 126.
