Board of Education approves GMP for Phase 1 of new primary school/athletic renovations project.

Getting the ball rolling on the new primary school and athletic renovation projects was the focus of Thursday night’s called Board of Education meet. The group met to approve the GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) of Phase 1. That work will include demolition, asbestos abatement, fencing, electrical & site work utilities.

Superintendent Dr. Steve Smith said he and assistant superintendent Dr. Trey Belflower attended a Zoom meeting with CM firm JCI Contractors. They’d analyzed bids for Phase 1 to arrive at a GMP. After some discussion on what the numbers meant and how they arrived at the price, a recommendation was made by Smith to approve the GMP of $3,523, 925.

An executive session was called, but only for discussion purposes. It was added to the agenda at the beginning of the meeting at the request of Smith.
