Though COVID-19 closed in-person classes, it didn’t prevent growth at Middle Georgia State University. A release yesterday announced the university set an enrollment record for Summer 2020.
Summer enrollment is 4,090. It’s an increase of 14.5 percent from summer of last year, a 21 percent increase from summer of 2018. The growth took place despite all classes being offered online.
MGA President Dr. Christopher Blake credited the university’s success with MGA Direct, a full online campus, with their ability to transition to online classes.
“By already offering online courses and degree programs, our team was able to transition quickly for the spring semester which allowed students to continue with an even stronger summer enrollment,” he said. “It’s a testimony to the determination of our students to adapt and stay focused on finishing their degrees.”
The university is preparing to reopen for fall in-person instruction. Their reopening plan was recently approved by the University System of Georgia. On-campus offices open August 3. Classes begin August 12.
