Lady Royals edge Lamar, clinch region title.

The Lady Royals knew Thursday’s game against Lamar County was big in terms of playoff standings. Thanks though to some help from Monticello, the win would break a long region title drought.

Trinity Glover’s three-run home run in the third broke a 1-1 tie. Lamar answered with four in the fourth. Three runs on two outs in the home half put Bleckley back on top.

BC escaped a bases loaded jam in the fifth. The leadoff batter drew a walk in the seventh but was left stranded as the Lady Royals won 7-5. Earlier, Monticello (aka Jasper County) defeated Dodge County 4-1. With just one region left, and a two-game lead, it secured a region title for BCHS, the first since 2014.

Glover was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI. Addisyn Keel went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Clara Rickerson was 2 for 3. Darci Dillard went 1 for 2. Bleckley hosts Dodge County October 14 in a JV/varsity doubleheader starting at 4 pm.
