BCHS resumed region play Tuesday night at home taking on Lamar County. It was a tough night as both teams lost games they probably should’ve won.

Jalexia Taylor led the Lady Royals in scoring for the third straight game.

Jalexia Taylor’s layup as time expired, her 11th point of the first half, gave the Lady Royals a 25-18 lead. Lamar though outscored them 23-2 in the third. Down by as many as 16 in the fourth, got within nine late but ultimately lost 50-42. Taylor scored 19 points. Kiara Gilbert added 13 points.

Tuesday night's game sponsors were The Woods Golf Course, DBJ Plumbing, and Maddox Home Improvement. Representatives from each business are pictured with boys head coach Garrett Collins.

Trailing 13-4 in the second, Amarion Blackshear scored nine points as BC was within two at halftime. The Royals scored just five third quarter points but were within 26-18.

After drawing close several times in the fourth, Shon Jenkins hit a three with 1:40 left. The 38-37 lead would be short lived as Lamar went back on top with 47 seconds left. Several last-second shots in the final seconds fell short in a 39-38 loss. BC missed eight free throws.

Amarion Blackshear lays one up.

Blackshear had 13 points. Ethan Hulsey scored six of his 10 points in the fourth. Region play continues January 8 at Northeast. Tip time is 6 pm.
