Members of the BCHS competition squad cheer on the middle school.

It’d been a challenging season for BCMS under first year head coach Chara Nobles. The squad had only gotten to perform three times due to COVID issues. That included all having to quarantine during Christmas break.

Still, BC did have momentum going into region Friday night at West Laurens following last week’s good showing at Battle at the Kingdom. A large contingent was on hand to cheer them on, including the BCHS competition squad.

As they led the familiar chant of “Bleckley County,” BCMS made their way to the mat. Buoyed by the support, the Barons had a great overall performance. While there was a knees down during tumbling, everything else stuck.

Good jumps, good motions, good energy. There was a high level of excitement following the performance. But would it be warranted when awards were handed out?

Second place, J.R. Trippe Middle School. First place (then a dramatic pause) Bleckley County Middle School! The contingent of supporters exploded with joy. It was especially satisfying for those who were on the last two squads that finished region runner up.

Standing L-R: Coach Jessica Smith, Olivia Floyd, Anna Kate Wall, Jessie Dennis, Jasey Warren, Jewell Sanders, Ava Brock, Kylie Souza, Ella Ford, Madison Sanders. Coach Chara Nobles. Kneeling L-R: Anna Claire Dean, Capri Faulk, Callie Smith, Sophie Shilling, Gabbie Wells, Callie Rowland, Emmy Kay Williams.

Congratulations to the squad and coaches.
