Golf teams clinch state berths.

BCHS Golf hosted Area 2 competition Tuesday at Uchee Trail. Area 2 consisted of teams from regions 3 and 4-AA. There were nine boys teams, four individuals, seven girls teams, three individuals. The top three teams from each advanced to state May 17-18 at Southern Hills Golf Club in Hawkinsville.

The Royals finished third with a team score of 337. They clinched a state berth for the first time since 2016. Scores included Ty Cranford 76 (Third place individual), Paul Andrews 80 (Fifth), Weston Skipper 89 (13th), and Chase Jones 92 (T-16th.)

The Lady Royals won area and region going away with a score of 181, 46 strokes better than the second place team. Lucy Wiegert was individual area and region champion with a score of 75. Shana Nobles shot a 106 (Fourth) to add to the team score.

Head coach Dave Wiegert commented on the tournament saying “I couldn’t be any prouder of these young people. The boys have been working hard for nearly two years to achieve their goal of playing in the state tournament and today they did it! The girls played extremely well too and continue to show that our girls program is one of the best in AA. Can’t wait for state!”
